Indian-Inspired Arts & Crafts To Do With Your Child This Summer

Kids love arts and crafts, getting messy, sticky and colorful. But a quick search on YouTube and Google, and it's quite difficult to find Indian/ South Asian arts & crafts that are both beautiful and easy to do.

So we've compiled a list of some fantastic arts & crafts you can do at home with your child!

We also just launched a series of Arts & Crafts videos, including Idli-Dosa crafts, peacock art, patang/kite art and more. The videos are taught in Hindi by the amazing Desi Meets Design.

Age Recommendation: toddlers to teens!

KS Kitchen & Lifestyle

Easy Rangoli

rangoli art for kids

Follow along with this mom, also known as Sangeeta, as she finds entertaining things to do with her little one!

In this post, we’re going to look at a simple rangoli design she did with items you can find around the house such as bangles and a fork. Rangoli designs are an easy way for your kids to destress and let their creativity flow as they think of new ways to make patterns and let the colorful sand run into each other while delicately making a design.

NOTE: Take this rangoli craft to whatever level your child can do. Stop early to make it easier and keep going if you need more of a challenge!

Age Recommendation: This activity can get a bit messy! It's recommended for kids 8 and up, however kids as young as 5 can jump in to try (with assistance).
